DWV FLEX-TEND® Flexible Expansion Joint

For Drain, Waste and Vent (DWV) Pipelines

separator

EBAA Iron introduced the FLEX-TEND flexible expansion joint almost 30 years ago. It has been a valuable tool for protecting pipelines and pipeline connections from differential movement caused by settlement or seismic activity.

What does a designer do, however, when he is needing to protect small diameter, PVC drain lines? The standard FLEX-TEND is designed for use in a pressurized pipeline and does not always lend itself to easily connect to and protect those pipe connections.

Now there is a simple solution. The DWV FLEX-TEND flexible expansion joint specifically designed for use on small diameter, non-pressurized lines.

This new product from EBAA Iron is made of PVC with the same type of functionality as the standard FLEX-TEND product. It is comprised of two ball joints with an expansion joint between them to enable motion in any direction. The plain end pipes on each end of the unit are easily solvent-welded to ASTM D1785/2665 and F891 PVC pipe. The DWV FLEX-TEND is currently available is sizes 3-inch through 8-inch with an offset capability of up to eight inches.

Remember, as will all FLEX-TEND products, it is important for pipe and fitting joints in the vicinity to be restrained (mechanically or solvent weld) in order to transfer any motion of the pipeline can be transferred to DWV FLEX-TEND unit so that it can protect the pipeline as intended.
